Two internationally-known entertainers will perform at the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) on consecutive weekends in April.
Charlotte Martin, a critically-acclaimed singer and songwriter, will be in concert at 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, and Collin Raye, who has been nominated five times as country music's Male Vocalist of the Year, will perform at 8 p.m. April 20.
Tickets, available at MPAC at 111 N. Tennessee Street in McKinney, are $25 for the Martin concert and $35 for the Raye concert. Tickets are also available at www.mckinneyperformingartscenter.org or by calling the Emerson Ticket Office at 214-544-4630.
Martin grew up in Charleston, Ill., and was Miss Illinois Teen USA in 1994.
MPAC Director Ty Lake said, "With Charlotte Martin's new album, 'Hiding Places,' set to release on April 3, we are anxious to be one of the first to host her spell-binding performance in our intimate courtroom theater. Just hearing simply her voice and the Boston baby grand piano will be an unforgettable experience for everyone who attends."
Raye is best known for several hit records, including "Little Rock," "Love Me," "In This Life" and "Not That Different." Often referred to as an electrifying showman, he thrills audiences with songs such as "My Kind of Girl," "That's My Story," "I Can Still Feel You" and "I Want You Bad."
Raye is also well-known as a philanthropist, having contributed large sums to various charities over the years.
He was born in De Queen, Ark., about 50 miles due north of Texarkana. The De Queen City Council renamed the bypass around the small town as Collin Raye Drive.
Lake said Martin and Raye are just the first of many great entertainers expected to perform at MPAC in the future.
"We look forward to hosting star power of this magnitude in Historic Downtown McKinney this spring," she said. "Tickets are selling fast and we are prepared for a full house."
