Celina Main Street Program recognized nationally

In 2011 Celina received two national Main Street recognitions. The Nationally Recognized Main Street Program for 10 plus years of above average performance and for the 2012 National Main Street City award. Celina's Main Street Program has shown above average performance in all ten categories on the ten-point criteria report to Austin. The criteria focus on planning, partnerships, staffing, volunteer effort, preservation ethic, training and program assessment.
Celina has been commended for its successful annual progress as a designated Main Street community. The Texas Historical Commission and its Texas Main Street Program made the announcement in November at the annual statewide downtown revitalization conference co-hosted by the Texas Main Street Program and the Texas Downtown Association.
Celina will be further recognized as a nationally accredited city by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in April in Baltimore, Maryland at the annual conference of the National
In 2011 Celina also celebrated the Texas Main Street Program's 30 years of progress, having designated the first city in 1981.
"We have a great board this year," Celina Main Street Executive Director Carolyn Harvey said. "As director I'm proud of what the board has accomplished over the last five years. This board looks forward to more projects in 2012 that will benefit the community."
