McKinney police have arrested a man for criminally negligent homicide in his alleged connection to another man's possible drug overdose Sunday morning in McKinney.
Police responded to the unattended death of Brandon Lee Wanttie, 19, in the early morning hours at a residence in the 3700 block of Daffodil Lane.
Deputy Chief Joe Ellenburg said investigators believe that evidence and paraphernalia at the scene suggest that Lee's death is linked to an overdose from a controlled substance.
A statement released Wednesday by the McKinney Police Department said, "...the investigation is still ongoing with detectives actively following up on other leads. Officers are working with local, state and federal authorities to ensure that we maximize our window of opportunity to successfully arrest additional suspect(s) and identify the source of the controlled substance."
McKinney police are working on the case with the United States Attorney's Office in the Eastern District.
