Tax Ratification Election Early Voting
Early voting for the Tax Ratification election will be held Aug. 25 through 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Celina ISD Administration office at 205 S. Colorado in Celina. On Aug. 30 early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Celina Administration office and Celina High School at 3455 Preston Rd. and on Aug. 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Celina Administration office. Voting on Election Day, Sept. 4 will take place at the Celina ISD Administration office.
Cub Scout event
Cub Scout Pack 296 invites any boy in first grade to fifth grade to come to a Cub Scout meeting on the Celina Elementary School cafeteria from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 2. Learn about joining the Cub Scouts.
The City of Celina offers a free brush & bulky trash pickup day the fourth Saturday of each month. Set your brush and/or bulky trash at the street and it will be picked up. There are a few limitations: 1. Please cut any limbs down to four foot sections and bundle them together in sizes that are reasonable for one person to handle. 2. City contract limits brush pickup to 4 cubic yards (that's a stack about a foot high, and 10 feet wide x 10 feet deep) 3. If you have a single item that will require two people to lift it into the trash truck, please call the City at 972-382-2682 at least three days in advance so that we can make sure to plan for that. 4. We can't pick up any appliance that contains freon (refrigerators, freezers, AC units, etc), or anything else that is a hazardous waste, including paint, batteries, etc. If you have any questions, please call City Hall at 972-382-2682.
Celina Newcomers coffee
Celina Newcomers will hold a coffee from 10 a.m. to noon at the Texas Star Bank. Celina City The group meets every fourth Thursday. For information visit the Celina Newcomers Web site at www.celinanewcomers.com.
Exercise classes at Celina Community Center
Exercise classes are held for all senior citizens on Monday at 12:30 p.m and Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. on July 21, sponsored by the Texas Star Bank.
Rotary Club of Preston Trail
The Preston Trail Rotary Club meets every Friday at noon in the community room in the Texas Star Bank at 320 S. Preston Rd. Call 214-215-5453 for information. On Aug. 27 two Gunter high school students who have attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy in Midlothian will talk about their experiences at the camp.
Prosper Resale stock the store party
Prosper Resale will hold a stock the store party from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 28. Bring clean clothes in good condition and small items such as décor, dinnerware, books, toys and other items. Come to the party and enjoy cookies and lemonade. The resale shop is at 117 W. Broadway, suite B in Prosper. Proceeds from the store will benefit north Texas crisis pregnancy centers. Masquerade Madness
The 10th annual Taste of Collin County will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the Collin County Regional Airport. There will be entertainment and a live auction to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. Call Sharon Weideman at 972-542-5300 for ticket and sponsorship information.
