Music on the Square
Music on the Square continues from 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 19 on the square. Dine at one of Celina's restaurants or bring your own picnic basket, blankets or chairs. The library, museum and merchants will be open for the event. The jazz and pop group, the John Adams trio will perform Aug. 19. The Main Street program sponsored concerts are free. Come enjoy these free concerts.
Celina Newcomers coffee
Celina Newcomers will hold a coffee from 10 a.m. to noon at the Texas Star Bank. Celina City The group meets every fourth Thursday. For information visit the Celina Newcomers Web site at www.celinanewcomers.com.
Current season ticket holders may pick up their tickets at the Bobcat field house through Aug. 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket trade day is scheduled for Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. at the field house. Public sale of football tickets begins at 8 a.m. on Aug. 16 at the field house.
Quarterback Club barbecue
The annual Quarterback Club barbecue will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 14 at the Bobcat Field House. The scrimmage will be against Nolan from Ft. Worth.
Auction to benefit Donna Senter
An auction to benefit Donna Senter, former Celina High School librarian will be held at the Gainesville Civic Center, 311 South Weaver St. in Gainesville. There will be live and silent auctions. Dinner will be at 5 p.m. and the auction will happen at 7 p.m. $5 for adults and $3 for children 6 and under. Senter is suffering from brain cancer. Donations can be mailed to the Donna Senter Benefit Account at First State Bank, Attn: Donna Senter Benefit Account, P.O. Box 10, Gainesville, Tx. 76241. Senter is suffering from brain cancer.
Celina Newcomers second annual New, Blue, and/or Woohoo Breakfast
The second annual event will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Aug. 23 at the old junior high building on Pecan Street. Drop off the kids on the first day of school and come to breakfast at the Blue, Woohoo event and meet other parents sad or happy about school starting. Celina newcomers and non newcomers are also invited to meet others in the community.
Exercise classes at Celina Community Center
Exercise classes are held for all senior citizens on Monday at 12:30 p.m and Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. on July 21, sponsored by the Texas Star Bank.
Rotary Club of Preston Trail
The Preston Trail Rotary Club meets every Friday at noon in the community room in the Texas Star Bank at 320 S. Preston Rd. Call 214-215-5453 for information.
St. Philip Baptist Church fundraiser
St. Philip Baptist Church will hold its annual fundraiser celebration from noon to 6 p.m. on Aug. 21 at The Anvil at 132 N. Louisiana across from Founders Park. There will be a cake walk, face painting, bounce houses, kids games, snow cones, home made ice cream, a drawing for a $50 gift certificate and food, fun and fellowship.
Adopt a pet at Collin Creek Mall
Adopt a dog or cat at Collin Creek Mall in Plano from noon to 5 p.m. on Aug. 21 at Collin Creek Mall. The Second Chance Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will be showcasing available cats and dogs at the mall. The adoption booth will be in the center court on the lower level of the Plano shopping center. For information call 972-422-1070.
Masquerade Madness
The 10th annual Taste of Collin County will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the Collin County Regional Airport. There will be entertainment and a live auction to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. Call Sharon Weideman at 972-542-5300 for ticket and sponsorship information.
