Movies on the Square continues July 10
The Main Street program continues Movies on the Square in Celina on July 10 with “October Sky” and “Snow Dogs” on July 24. The movies are shown on the square in downtown Celina. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic supper and enjoy the free movie.
Fourth annual balloon festival set for June 26 and 27
Preston Trail Rotary Club holds blood drive at Balloon Festival
From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 27 the Preston Trail Rotary Club will hold a blood drive in Old Celina Park during the balloon festival. For information call Jim Owens at 972-382-3404.
Weston will hold annual Fourth of July parade
The 24th annual Weston Fourth of July parade will be held at 10 a.m. on July 4. Bake sale items and cold drinks will be available. Parade categories include cars/truck, motorcycles, floats, walkers/bicycles/wagons/kids vehicles, horses/buggies and carts, tractors/four-wheelers, go-karts/lawnmowers. There are no fees, but registration is required. Line-up takes place at 8:30 to 9 p.m. Judging will be from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. For information email pharrington@aceweb.com.
Hospice volunteer training available in Denton
Ann's Haven VNA needs hospice volunteers in the Denton County area who want to help terminally ill patients and their families. A course in volunteer hospice care will be held over two consecutive Saturdays, July 11 and July 25 from 8 a.m. To 5 p.m. At Ann's Haven VNA on 501 S. Carroll Blvd., Suite 201 in Denton. There is no cost to attend the training. Refreshments are provided, but volunteers are requested to bring a sack lunch. Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge to open Aug. 1 with a run across the bridge
There will be a 5K run and a family fun walk across the new Lewisville Lake Bridge on Aug. 1. All activities will being on the Lake Dallas side of the bridge. Visit www.runlltb.com for information.
Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney will hold Crape Myrtle Craze
Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney will hold Crape Myrtle Craze on June 27. The event will include bus tours of McKinney's 14 miles of crape myrtle trails, a plant sale, and speakers including Neil Sperry, president of the Crape Myrtle Trails board.
