Powder puff football will be played May 17
Project Graduation will hold its final fund raiser for the year. The junior girls will compete against the senior girls in a powder puff football match. The boys of each class will be cheerleaders for the game. It will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. At Old Celina Park on May 17. Powder puff king candidates have been nominated by the senior class. The king will be crowned at the powder puff football game. Candidates are Kyle Skaggs, Brock Babb, Jordan Stout, Andy Rose, and Garth Willard. Everyone is invited. Admission is $5. Proceeds will go to Project Graduation.
Main Street Golf Tournament rescheduled to May 18
The sixteenth annual Main Street Golf Tournament will be held beginning at noon on May 18 at The Trails of Frisco Golf Club. Teams can still register and sponsors can still sign up to participate. Call 972-382-2078 for information.
The City of Celina Parks Department will be holding their second annual fishing tournament May 16th at Old Celina Park from 9 a.m. until noon on May 16. All children ages 2 n 16 are invited. All children should be registered by 9 a.m. Child’s name and emergency contact number will be required for this event. Food and drinks will be donated by the Hurricane Creek Rotary Club. Children are asked to bring their own fishing pole, lures, and gear. Free prizes will be given throughout this event. Grand prizes will be awarded to each winner in several different age groups. The winning fish will be determined in inches not pounds.
Former CISD superintendent will tell Hank, the Cowdog stories in McKinney
Former CISD superintendent Don Newsom will tell stories of Hank the Cowdog as the Cowboy Slim at the North Texas History Center, 300 East Virginia, in McKinney at 11 a.m. on May 16. Celina Main Street and the Heritage Museum sponsoring photo contest
The contest celebrates Historic Preservation Month in May. The contest is for photographers under 18 and photographers 18 and over. First and second place prizes will be awarded in both categories. Contest entry photos will be displayed in a window in the downtown area. Call 972-382-2078 for information.
Weston will hold community garage sale
The Weston Women's Group will hold the annual Weston-wide community garage sale from 8 a.m. To 5 p.m. On June 6. Registration deadline is May 30. For information call 972-2442 or 972-382-2447.
